I’ve always been a fan of the Radisson Hotel in Granger Bay. I love the oceanfront seating. I love the extensive breakfast buffet. I love the ease of spending a day out in the fresh air. So when the team invited me to try their monthly Bottomless Brunch By The Ocean, I definitely could not say no.
If you’ve never visited Tobago’s Restaurant, Bar, and Terrace at the Radisson Collection, you’re in for a treat. Sure, the restaurant itself may be like any other hotel restaurant you’ve come across, but what makes this one extra special is the proximity to the ocean.
Their outside terrace kisses the stormy sea on one side and the protected bays that lead into the V&A Waterfront on the other, with a quay designed for post-eating strolls that runs between. It’s the place to watch seagulls attempt naughty tricks, dolphins frolicking in the waves below, and the start of the Atlantic as it expands beyond the edge of our continent.

The Radisson’s partnered with Boschendal for their bottomless brunch.

Terrace dining at its finest.
Put simply: It’s beautiful.
And it’s even better if you add a bottomless bubbly brunch.
What Is The Radisson Bottomless Brunch By The Ocean?
Once a month, the Radisson goes all out.
Think fresh oysters, sushi, breads, salads, cold dishes, BBQ seafood, and a collection of ice cream, cakes, and desserts, all paired with bottomless Boschendal bubbles (or non-alcoholic Absolute Zero Nectar, wines, and more), against a backdrop of live music and the Radisson magic.
The event runs throughout the summer on select Saturdays from 13:00 to 16:00 and comes at a cost of ZAR 1,650 per person. The only real downside to all of this is that three hours is definitely not enough time to soak it all in.

Fish, roast beef, salads, and more – the cold selection does not disappoint.

Cold cuts and cheeses are a necessity at every brunch.

All drinks are included as part of the brunch package.
But the Radisson creates an atmosphere where you really don’t want to leave.
And it’s glorious.
The I Love Foodies Experience
Maybe I felt the time was too short because we got stuck in traffic on the way there, so we entered the Radisson huffing and puffing about 30 minutes too late. 30 minutes where we could have been sipping MCC and enjoying beautiful oysters. But alas.
The team was super nice in welcoming us and sat us outside on the terrace. There’s also indoor seating for cooler or windier days, but the best views (and vibes) are definitely outside. It was a touch too windy on the day we went, but with blankets and heaters outside, the hotel is definitely prepared for all weather conditions.
Bubbles To Start
Upon welcoming, the first stop is the Boschendal bubbles cart, where you can choose the Brut or Rose, both excellent, or something non-alcoholic.
My sister, Sabine, doesn’t drink alcohol so she had the Van Loveren Absolute Zero Nectar, which is surprisingly good. Finding a decent non-alcoholic bubbly is hard, and finding a fantastic one even harder. But Van Loveren gets it right with this one.
Sushi & Oysters
There’s no real method to the madness at the Radisson Bottomless Brunch. Cake first? Go ahead. Oysters for dessert? Why not! You’ll find me eating steak for breakfast and cereal for dinner all the time.

Oysters with this view? It doesn’t get any better.
But of course there is a logical flow to food, so we started with some beautiful oysters and freshly-made sushi.
The oysters were small, but lovely, and the sushi was good, though I definitely wouldn’t rank it among the top I’ve had. This is probably a good thing, too, since sushi is enormously filling and there’s a world of goodness to enjoy at the Bottomless Buffet.
The Cold Selection & BBQ Seafood
Next up, we headed over to Tobago’s cold selection, an assortment of breads, smoked fish, salads, cold cuts, and more. There’s enough here to keep you satiated for days and I did not dare try every single dish, tempted as I was, but what I did have was lovely, setting the scene for the more heavier options waiting in the hot section.

Left: Cold cuts with bubbles. Right: BBQ seafood with more bubbles.

The BBQ station was definitely a highlight.
There were some hot-dish items ready to be enjoyed inside, but the main attraction was the BBQ station at the end of the terrace, where you could choose prawns, calamari, and salmon to be grilled directly on the coals for that excellent smokey flavour. This was definitely one of the personal highlights for me, in addition to the ever-topped-up glasses of Boschendal bubbly, of course.
Dessert Heaven
For dessert, the Bottomless Brunch provides a range of options, including multiple cakes, fruits, ice cream, and sweets. It’s hard to try all of it, but they do really well in keeping most portions/slices quite small to actually give you the chance to try a little more.
Everything we had was delicious.
Including the naughty bowl of jelly beans I ended off with.

Dessert for days – and everything excellent to boot.

The fave find was the little I Love Foodies heart.
