I’ve been rewatching the Spider-Man movies recently and keep on thinking about the catchphrase “your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman” … what this has to do with a food review, you may ask? Well, there’s something lovely and comforting about having a friendly neighbourhood superhero who makes sure that everything and everyone stays in good spirits. And that’s pretty much what a friendly neighbourhood pub does, too. Like the Brook & Badger, a Fulham gastropub that opened up just over six months ago on Munster Road.

Two close friends stay near the Brook & Badger and shared wonderful teasers with me about how good the food is, so I was pretty excited to visit for their highly acclaimed Sunday roast. There’s something insurmountably wholesome about a good Sunday lunch that takes me back to the ideals of a time long gone, where Sundays are family days spent cooking, eating, and enjoying great company.

So I grabbed my good friend James – who is one of the few reasons I Love Foodies exists! – and off we went on a beautiful day for what would turn out to be an absolute treat.

Welcome To The Brook &Badger

The Brook & Badger has that typical upmarket gastropub feel that I’ve come to know and love. It’s warm and cosy, with a beautiful outside terrace (not a staple in London’s pub scene), a large bar, wooden furniture, and a handful of paintings, vases, and wine bottles thrown in as decor.

It’s a small venue, with enough tables to fill the space comfortably, so you really feel like you’re in the midsts of it if you’re visiting at a busy time. It has that family feel, where I can imagine the waitstaff learns to recognise you and you’re likely to run into people you know.

The Brook & Badger boasts a lovely outside terrace.

Different sections of the gastropub offer different feels.

The gastropub only opened in December 2025, but its history is rooted in decades of southwest London hospitality.

Behind it is Eamonn Manson, a 30-year veteran of the local pub and restaurant scene. He first opened a venue called the Pen in Parson’s Green back in 1993, and then went on to run the Sands End, Brown Cow, and Cross Keys, a group he sold in 2016.

The Brook & Badger marks his first collaboration with longtime friend and pop art dealer Adrian Palengat, which, in my mind, somewhat explains the very subtle arty ambiance and thoughtfully curated interior I took note of when I first entered the restaurant.

The Brook & Badger Menu

There are a few menus at the Brook & Badger – their usual lunch and dinner menu and then the special Sunday menu, printed for each individual Sunday to accommodate seasonal and/or daily specials.

On the standard menu, you’ll find:

  • Nibbles like whipped cod’s roe with crisps and siracha-honey fried chicken wings, averaging around £7 a plate
  • Starters like burnt leeks with labneh, smoked mackerel pate and toast, and seabream ceviche, averaging around £15 a plate
  • Mains like beef ragu with fettuccine, pork schnitzel, roast salmon with cauliflower puree, and a selection of 28-day dry-aged steaks served with beef fat fries, averaging around £25 a portion
  • Sides like honey-mustard carrots and truffle & parmesan fries, averaging around £8 a portion
  • Puddings, including vanilla pannacotta, sticky toffee pudding, and a selection of British cheeses, averaging around £8 a portion

The Sunday menu takes a selection of the items available on the standard menu, with the addition of the glorious Sunday roast, with options including braised celeriac, roast leg of lamb, dry-aged beef rump, and Tamworth porchetta.

Like most pubs, the Brook & Badger features a good wine list.

Everything sounded spectacular, and we definitely weren’t disappointed by anything we ordered.

The Brook & Badger Review

The I Love Foodies Experience

We went through all the options that the Brook & Badger had to offer, with starters, mains, and desserts each.

On the menu:

  • Burrata with wild garlic hazelnut pesto and radish (£13.50)
  • Steak tartare with shallots, capers, chive emulsion, and beef fat crostini (£15.50)
  • Trio of roasts (beef, prochetta, lamb) with seasonal vegetables, beef dripping roast potatoes, and a Yorkshire pudding (£40.00)
  • Dry-aged beef rump with horseradish, red wine jus, and all the Sunday roast trimmings (£28.50)
  • Cherry bakewell tart with lime chantilly (£9)
  • Apple and pear crumble with vanilla ice cream (£8.50)

Needless to say, everything was excellent. James had the steak tartare, beef rump, and crumble, and gave all of them a massive thumb’s up.

My burrata to start was lovely and refreshing, though still a tad straight-out-of-the fridge cold, and the cherry tart was delicious, though I was missing a bit of extra cherry flavour.

Left: The trio of roast that’s worth writing home about. Right: Soft and delicious, the beef roast is a real winner.

The trio of roasts, though, now, that deserves a special mention. This was spectacular.

I had a trio of roasts at a different pub with friends just two weeks before, and while the price was definitely a little fairer, the portion was also half the size. I did not anticipate this portion being so big … but every bite was delicious. I did miss a little bit of juices and/or mint sauce on the lamb, which tasted a little dry, but the beef was top-notch, the pork delicious, and all the trimmings divine. And the potatoes – oh my!

If you’re hungry, this has to be your go-to. I’d definitely have it again, though I’d skip the starters and desserts next time. But I also wouldn’t say no to just the beef roast!

The apple & pear crumble was spectacular, while the cherry bakewell tart was firm and full of flavour.

Overall, this was a Sunday afternoon well-spent.

Fantastic food, great service, beautiful ambience, and wonderful company. What more could you ask for?
