It’s very rare to walk into a restaurant or cafe and feel like you’ve stepped into a tranquil portal, transporting you away from the humdrum of London life and into a more zen space where time stands still. But that’s exactly what you’ll experience at Jūsu Brothers.
While perhaps more known for their Notting Hill location, we recently visited the Elephant & Castle branch in the stunningly restored Walworth Town Hill, around 7 minutes from the tube station.
As luck would have it, it was a horrendous London summer’s day, with wind and pouring rain – unlike some of the more gorgeous weather we’ve been having this year. This had initially put a bit of a damper on our mood, but that quickly changed once we arrived at Jūsu Brothers and grabbed a table.
See, this location literally oozes tranquility.

The restored Walworth Town Hall is definitely worth checking out.

The location epitomises instant zen.
From the calming wooden features to pops of dark green plants, rose sofas, and the assortment of art works on the wall, the interior design is perfectly crafted. It’s lively enough to not feel soulless, and calming enough to put the focus on the people – and the food.
Granted, I do have a feeling it may get a little loud if very full as the acoustics didn’t seem on point, but on the lazy Saturday morning we were there and with the handful of tables occupied, it was delightfully pleasant.
The Jūsu Brothers Menu & Philosophy
Going back to the reason we were there – food.
I actually did not look at the Jūsu Brothers website before my visit but have just opened it up now and the first text you’ll see on the homepage reads “REMEDY FOR THE SOUL” – and, yup, that pretty much sums it up.
(Aside: I use hyphens. Always have. I’m not ChatGPT. AI is ruining my style).
The menu features a range of Pan-Asian dishes, and you’ll get everything from all-day breakfast goodies to fresh juices and shakes, coffees, and a selection of fresh starters and mains.
Jūsu Brothers Review – The I Love Foodies Experience
We visited for brunch and while I was tempted to start with a coffee, we had Instagram in mind and opted for a Pink Latte (£4) with beetroot and a Golden Milk (£4) with turmeric instead, followed by two of the divine juices, the Samurai (with spinach, pineapple, and apple) and the Green with Attitude (with spinach, celery, and apple), both £5.95.
Someone commented on my Instagram Stories on the day that they had never actually tried fresh juices like that before, which got me thinking about freshly-made juices in London and I was appalled to discover that it’s really not all that common.
It’s easy to forget that I Love Foodies was started in Cape Town, the city where models and sports stars come to play, so deliciously healthy juices and fresh foods are all the rage.
Jūsu Brothers gets it right – these were delicious.

You can never go wrong with a little health boost to start the day.
Choosing our food options was a little more difficult. I was pretty sold on the Fluffy Pancakes (possibly because they included “fluffy” in the name), but top recommendations included the Shiitake Ramen and the Salmon Teriyaki Salad … plus it was a chilly day. So what to choose, what to choose?
My trusty plus one, Kassandra (you’ll find her at @delishkass), ended up going for the Chicken Noodle Soup (£17) with shredded chicken and noodles in a warming broth of daikon, ginger, bean sprouts, and sweetcorn with sesame seeds and coriander.
I went for the Shiitake Ramen (£15) with ramen noodles, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, dried combo, ginger, garlic, spring onion, nori, sesame seeds, and tamari.
And both were absolutely freakin’ delicious.
It’s unusual for me to go for a veggie-based option because I’m a carnivore through and through (you can’t blame me, I am from Namibia after all) but shiitake mushrooms are so full of umami goodness that it’s easy to forget.
Both dishes, though, were super fresh and light, so even if you’re eating a full portion, it feels like you’re filling your soul with goodness.

Our mains – chicken noodle soup and shiitake ramen – were fab, but the desserts were a little underwhelming.
For dessert, Kassandra tried the Sweet Potato Bites (£7.75) with purple sweet potato, vanilla, coconut sugar, and coconut milk, while I went for the Basque Cheesecake (£7.5) with light cream cheese, greek yoghurt, honey, protein powder, and vanilla, and topped with raspberries and maple syrup.
While mains were stars, the desserts were a bit of a let-down.
The cheesecake was fresh, firm, and delicious, though just a tad too sweet for my liking, while the sweet potato bites were bland and overly oily. They had that mochi-like texture which you either love or hate – I do happen to love that so I enjoyed eating them but it really wasn’t Kassandra’s favourite. If the flavours were more subtly balanced and they were prepped with a tad less oil, these could be really good.
But, it could be that we just got a bad batch on the day, or that the flavour just doesn’t quite fit my profile – I avoid fried foods like the plague (with the exception of fried chicken, which for some reason is just my kryptonite), so the oiliness just really didn’t work for me.
Visit Jūsu Brothers
Overall, visiting Jūsu Brothers was a fantastic experience. Even with the dessert let-down, the food, drinks, and ambience were so beautiful and calming that we could only leave with good and happy memories.
Next visit I’ll definitely have to try either the Fluffy Pancakes or the Salmon Teriyaki Salad! By the looks of it, the Notting Hill branch also has a slightly different menu with a few additions, so there may be some more discoveries to be made.
Regardless of which branch you choose, though, Jusu is definitely well worth a visit. I’d usually say make a reservation – this is London after all – but Jūsu actually does not take bookings, so head out whenever the mood strikes you.
