I’ve received many festive season gifts over the last few weeks, and they’ve all put an absolute smile on my face. I did all of my Christmas shopping back in London, but I’m pretty certain that not everyone is lucky enough to have finished their Christmas shopping already! So, with that, here’s the I Love Foodies Christmas Gift Guide, where I get to share with you all the lovely things I’ve received that I think would make pretty awesome gifts for everyone else as well!!!!

The Wines

Alto Rouge 2016

I only recently came across Alto Wines and now I’m seeing them everywhere! The bottles are sleek and elegant, making a bottle of Alto the perfect gift – or the perfect ‘I’m bringing the wine to dinner’ companion. I’ll be enjoying the Alto Rouge 2016 this festive season, but I’m pretty sure the rest of their wines are as beautiful.

Excelsior – Any

I’m celebrating with the Excelsior Evanthius 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay 2018, and Sauvignon Blanc 2018, but any Excelsior Wine is always a winner. Even better, take a trip up to their farm in the Robertson Wine Valley, blend your own bottle of Excelsior wine, and stick on your personalised label. I made a bottle for my dad last year for Christmas, and it was one of the highlights of our Christmas season! Personalised is always better!

Flagstone Poetry 2018 Cinsault Rose

Whenever I look at the Flagstone Poetry 2018 Cinsault Rose, I think instant summer. And what more could you want this festive season? Grab a bottle for your best friend, girlfriend, sister, or mom (yes, it’s pink, so I think it’s perfect for the ladies), add some summer gear, and voila, perfect summer Christmas gift!

Van Loveren Almost Zero De-Alcoholised Wine

I’m definitely not much of a drinker and would never want to promote excess alcohol, so if you want to go a little lighter this festive season, check out the Van Loveren Almost Zero De-Alcoholised Wine. It has almost zero per cent alcohol, making it the perfect summer alternative for those wanting to take it easy.

Vriesenhof 2016 Chardonnay

The Vriesenhof Chardonnay is a wine I’ve become most familiar with, and absolutely love. It’s a beautiful bottle as well, making it a pretty awesome festive season gift!

Beers, Ciders, Liqueurs, and More

Lourensford Honey Liqueur

Liqueur is always something a little nicer, and Lourensford’s new Honey Liqueur is definitely a treasure.  It’s made from bees on the Lourensford farm, and is unfiltered and contains no preservatives or additives. Yes, it is quite sweet and if you’re not generally a fan of sweet liqueurs, then this isn’t for you. But I think it’s quite lovely and the perfect drink for summer. You can pop the whole bottle in the freezer so it’s ice cold when you drink. I’d even suggest serving it over some plain vanilla ice cream or cold berry dessert. But go wild with it – it’s a lovely addition to any dessert, as a sipping drink on its own, or in cocktails.

Loxtonia Cider

I’ve never been much of a fan of ciders, but fell in love with Mulled Cider in London. So when I heard about Loxtonia Cider, I couldn’t wait to try them. Loxtonia Cider is a premium, natural cider with no preservatives or artificial additives. And you can definitely taste that in each crisp sip of deliciousness. They have an assortment of ciders available – including Crispy Apple Cider, Sparkling Apple Cider, and Stone Fruit Flavoured Apple Cider – and you’ll definitely find one in there that you’ll love this summer.

Mad Giant Beer

Ok, I’m not a beer drinker but I’ve fallen in love with Mad Giant for one simple reason: their packaging. Not only are their designs super sleek, which the creative in me loves, but they’ve also committed themselves to tackle single-use plastic. I cannot express how much I despise the world’s obsession with single-use plastic and what a terrible effect it has on our environment, so I cannot do anything but support guys like Mad Giant, who do not use any plastic in their packaging. This gives them some unique obstacles to tackle, but the goal they’re striving for is worth it. If we all make a small change and support producers like Mad Giant, then we can make a difference to our environment. It all starts with the end consumer (that’s you and me).

The Health-Conscious

Golden Life Golden Turmeric Blend

I’m a huge fan of Golden Turmeric Lattes. They’re warm and frothy and have all the turmeric goodness to them, minus all the caffeine-induced side effects. Turmeric really is a magic little health bomb – full of anti-oxidants and great for pretty much everything! I definitely need to up my turmeric game, especially since I’ve just run out of the turmeric capsules I take every morning … so I may just replace them with a Turmeric Latte. The Golden Life Turmeric Blend contains high-grad premium turmeric sources from India and Southeast Asia, together with ginger from Nigeria and Sri Lanka cinnamon, and can be enjoyed hot or cold though, making it perfect for any occasion, and the perfect gift for all turmeric lovers.

Theonista Kombucha

Even if you’re not following the health trend at all, you’ll have heard of kombucha. It’s great for gut health and all-round healthy vibes. You either love it or hate it, but I’m certainly in the former category! The guys from Theonista have also recently released a Ginger Beer that’s 100% sugar-free (they use other Banting-friendly sweeteners), which is great guilt-free pleasure this summer. Best enjoyed ice cold.

Rugani Juice

For those focusing on health this festive season, try the Rugani Juices range. These juices use carrots as their base – from Rugani’s own daily harvested carrots – in an extraction process that ruptures 95% of veggie cells, making it one of the richest sources of beta-carotene available in the South African market. They have a few different flavours availabele, including 100% Carrot Juice, Ginger-Infused Carrot Juice, 100% Carrot & Pineapple Juice, 100% Beetroot Juice, and 100% Pineapple Juice. What I love most about these juices that no sugar, water, or preservatives are added. The juices are literally bursting with flavour and full of goodness!

For Those Summer Parties

Dynamice Energy Sticks

These are pretty nifty, especially coz I’m munching one as I’m writing one … well, I was. Holding an ice cream and typing at the same time is a skill I haven’t quite yet mastered. This may be a frozen ice cream stick, but it’s so much more than that. Dynamice is a natural guarana and caffeine energy stick from the Netherlands. Pretty much an energy drink in frozen form, which is great for the Cape Town summer – and all the summer festivities. Dynamice comes in two flavours – Sweet Cherry and Lemon-Lime. I haven’t quite figured out which one is my favourite yet, so I’ll let you choose your fave.

The Gift That Keeps On Giving

The Entertainer 2019

The Entertainer really is the gift that keeps on giving. If you don’t know about the app: It’s basically a nifty treasure of two-for-one deals that you can redeem at a variety of restaurants, spas, shops, and experiences. I make use of the Entertainer Cape Town every year, and have also loved the Entertainer UK on my travels this year. You pay a once-off fee for the app, which gives you access for the year. I personally think this is one of the best gifts you can give!
