The Sevruga Relaunch at the V&A Waterfront

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. But I’d contend that a girl’s best friend is, in fact, an endless supply of world-class sushi and bottomless bubbles. Or maybe that’s just me? The newly revamped Sevruga had an endless supply of both deliciously dry bubbly and masterfully created sushi, so we were in the best of hands at their recent relaunch soirée. Sevruga had invited everyone who’s anyone to this extravagant affair. And they certainly went out of their way give all of us the VIP treatment.

We enjoyed cocktails on arrival, complimentary drinks throughout the night, and we even managed to befriend the chef – who then made it his personal mission to ensure that there was always sushi on our plates (thank you!). We were also treated to some of Sevruga’s non-sushi options for those (senseless) souls who don’t eat sushi. Crumbed squid tentacles, cured tuna tartare, oysters on ice, and a deep-fried ball of prawny goodness, just to name a few.

The décor at Sevruga cleverly combines all the best elements of ‘tropical style’ with clean lines, crisp white linens, and soothing earthy tones, creating a contemporary style without compromising on the feel of sophistication that you’d expect to enjoy at any top fine-dining establishment.

And for those of you who, like me, spend about 80% of your life in activewear – don’t despair! Sevruga has a less formal, semi-outdoor dining area if you’re looking to grab a quick lunch with friends or enjoy a cocktail after work and look out over the Cape Town harbour at sunset.
