Introducing The Chelsea Clinic and Spa
One of my favourite things about this writer/blogger journey is that I get to experience new places, learn about new things, and meet amazing new people. On the I Love Foodies journey, one would think that these new things usually revolve around food, and, yes, usually they do. But every now and again, something completely different pops up.
Those who know me will know that I am tough as nails and there are very few things I cannot do – from changing tires to fixing cupboards. But all that toughness does not change the fact that I am a complete girl. I love everything pretty and sparkly and I love anything to do with beauty and taking care of yourself. So, when the wonderful Marina from Little Black Book sent an invitation the launch of the new Mona Lisa laser (I had no idea what this was at the time … more about it in a little) at the Chelsea Clinic and Spa in Wynberg, I rsvped in 2 seconds flat! I mean, she had me at spa …
Gin, Bubbly, and Canapes
Now, I have been to my fair share of beauty salons, spas and clinics, but I haven’t often seen something as opulent and beautiful as the Chelsea Spa. As Benike and I stepped foot into it for the launch party, I was in love. As all of The Little Black Book parties are, this launch was beautifully put together. Barmen mixed up delicious Black Rose Gin with Fitch and Leedes Tonic, Boulevard Rose flowed endlessly, and, for non-drinkers and hydration lovers, there was S Pellegrino water. Oh, and the canapes … Complete works of art! And yummy too.
The Mona Lisa
After some chatting to wonderful people, it was time for some speeches on this new Mona Lisa laser. Now, turns out, this laser is not for faces but for intimate bits. If I were Lipgloss Girl, I could quite easily talk about all of that stuff, but, alas, I am not. I will simply saay that the Mona Lisa is all about rejuvenation post-child birth, menopause, and other assorted issues that can arise in ones nether regions. For more info on this laser, have a look www.monalisatouch.com. The Chelsea Clinic and Spa’s Dr Shaamilah Suleman is the first to offer this treatment in the Western Cape.
The Luxury Facial
Apart from treating us to an awesome launch and new info, the Chelsea Spa also decided to treat us to one of their 90 min Luxury Facials (R920). Loving facials as much as I do, I could barely wait to be at the Chelsea Spea again! I went about a week later, first thing on a rainy Monday morning. They weren’t lying when they said luxury. The treatment rooms alone were enough to make me feel like a princess! Lucy, my awesome therapist, made sure I kept that feeling the whole way through.
The Luxury Facial starts with an analysis of the skin so that it can be customised to your skin’s exact needs. Then there is cleaning, exfoliation, steam, and extractions, followed by the High Frequency machine or a post-extract solution to kill bacteria. It also includes a serum, masque, shoulder and facial massage, as well as any facial waxing or tinting. There are a bunch of other skin rejuvenation treatments you can add to the facial, but these are charged extra. Lucy treated me to an Image Lightening Peel and the Pollogen Lift machine, and they were absolutely worth it. I walked out of the Chelsea Spa positively radiating and glowing!
A huge thank you to Natasha and Lucy at the Chelsea Clinic & Spa and, of course, to Marina and her team at The Little Black Book. For info on the Mona Lisa and other treatments, contact the Chelsea Clinic and Spa directly. Details below.
