I don’t think there’s a soul in Cape Town that hasn’t heard of Crumbs and Cream yet. And if you haven’t, well, then now’s your chance! The store first opened up as a little take-away booth at the V&A Waterfront, and they have just launched their first ‘real’ store in Sea Point. I’ve been hearing about this place for weeks, and so I was super excited when I finally got to try some of their deliciousness at the official opening last week.
THE I LOVE FOODIES TEAM (SABINE PALFI, BENIKE PALFI) AND THE INSTAEATS CAPE TOWN TEAM (FRANCIS GERSBACH, DEAN HORWITZ) ROCKING THE LAUNCH
The concept of the ice cream sandwich is pretty popular. I’m sure most of us will remember the wafer-and-vanilla ice cream sandwiches from our childhood days. But Crumbs and Cream turns any regular ice cream sandwich into a gourmet ice cream sandwich. How so? Well, for starters, there’s no such thing as a regular wafer cookie. Instead, Crumbs and Cream offers you a selection of the very best in delicious cookies. Options include Oreo, Chocolate Chip, Rainbow, and even Banting! Cookie selected, you can add an optional spread (think Nutella), and then move on to select your ice cream flavour. Vanilla, Ferrero, Chocolate, you name it, they’ll have it. And, not to forget, there’s a sugar-free one to go with the Banting cookie. Sound delicious? Wait, you’re not done yet! After the ice cream, you get to choose toppings! Some of these include chocolate chips, white chocolate, and rainbow candy. Yum!
Being me, I had to have it all. So this was my Crumbs and Cream experience: Chocolate chip cookies with Dulce Le Leche spread, vanilla ice cream, white chocolate drops, and rainbow candy. Sugar rush ahoy! That totally explains the bubbly mood I was in all night! Part of me thinks I should’ve gone the ‘smart’ way and had the sugar-free Banting option instead, but, well, where’s the fun in that? And Crumbs and Cream is all about the fun, designed as a play park for kids and adults alike. Hey, they even have swings inside!
So, yeah, I think Crumbs and Cream is pretty cool. The colours are funky, the vibe is friendly, and everything is fun and games. I’ll be back. Plus, there’s a Red Velvet cookie option that I’m dying to try …
To have your very own Crumbs and Cream experience, visit their store at 16 Regent Road in Sea Point. They’re open Monday – Sunday from 11:00 to 20:00. For more info, feel free to give them a call on +27 81 591 4974 or visit their official website here.
