Now Showing at The Space

Now Showing

I have always enjoyed an adventure. I love exploring a new space, finding little golden nuggets, and experiencing something different. In a way, that is what the newly launched Now Showing is. Housed in the double story building of The Space (109 Waterkant Street), Now Showing mixes up local fashion and lifestyle design in an eve-changing space. Every six to eight weeks this ‘out-of-mall’ store completely reinvents itself and offers a new experience and shopping adventure. Now Showing also boasts weekly private wine tastings, with the wine estate changing every time the store reinvents itself.

I recently visited Now Showing for their launch event featuring The Dark Side and Lammershoek Wines. With a glass of delicious Lammershoek Pinotage in hand, I was ready to explore. The minimalist, mirror-covered downstairs area featured clothing and accessories from the likes of Amanda Laird-Cherry, Leigh Schubert and Colleen Eitzen, to name a few.

Now Showing Poem

“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul”

Now Showing Hello Darkness

Hello Darkness My Olde Friend

Then it was time to explore the aptly named The Dark Side in the upstairs area. This bold, dark and eerie space held everything from decadent soaps to lotions and potions, design, and, my favourite find of the evening, the most delectable rum I have ever had. The Rum Laboratory’s “Hello Darkness My Olde Friend” is an incredibly smooth spiced sipping rum and pretty much what dreams are made of!

The Dark Side will be on until 28 October. Now Showing will then reinvent to feature The Light Side from 2 November to 27 January 2018 and then Apartment Waterkant from 1 February to 31 March 2018.

Lammershoek wine tastings will happen on 12, 19 and 26 October.

For more info on The Space, visit their website here or check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. To book private Lammershoek wine tastings please email info@nowshowing.co.za.
