The Ice Cream Tales Edition One: Las Paletas
Lately I may have been slightly addicted to ice cream. I haven’t yet figured out whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but it’s definitely been a tasty endeavour! So over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my respective ice cream adventures with you, starting off with Las Paletas.
I’ve been seeing Las Paletas around for years – mostly thanks to their placement at Deer Park Café – but didn’t have the chance to try the ice cream until a ‘launch’ event a little while ago. I’ve been obsessed with wanting to try this brand, so I was absolutely ecstatic to attend the party they held.
I figured there would be ice cream but I wasn’t quite prepared for how much ice cream there would be! They literally had every flavour of every type of Las Paletas ice cream available. If you’re familiar with the brand, then you’ll know that there are quite a few flavours in their respective sorbet, dairy, chocolate, and sugar-free ranges available. Jason, co-owner of Las Paletas with his wife Diana, explained that the point of the extensive offering was that we all try a bit of everything. But how could one possibly resist finishing a whole Las Paletas lolly?
Needless to say, it ended up being a very sugar-laden event. But so worth it! I had four different ice creams on the night – white chocolate berry, brownie chocolate, papaya & lemon sorbet, and a sugar-free pomegranate. My absolute favourite was the white chocolate and berries one (picture at top)! Though, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the others as well!
What’s so great about Las Paletas is that it’s so darn good. These are handmade artisan ice lollies, made from quality ingredients (such as real fruit, herbs, spice, nuts, and dairy). They’re also 100% natural and free from all those nasty colourants and flavourants. The result? Ice cream heaven!!!!
I went home from the Las Paletas event with a few goodies for my freezer, which I’ve been enjoying almost every day since. Sometimes I even have two lollies on one day. I think this may be a sign of a slight ice cream addiction. But for now I’m totally okay with that …
For more info on Las Paletas, visit their official website here. I’d suggest trying every single one of their flavours. Hey, you only have this one life so you might as well make the most of it!
