I don’t think it’s much of a secret that I’ve been obsessed with Skinny Scoop Ice Cream. I’ll be honest, when I first stumbled upon this product the price put me off a bit but then I tried it and now I’m addicted and will easily spend a fortune on ice cream – and then eat it all in one day. Plus, I’ve found that 99% of ice cream places in Cape Town have upped their prices, and finding a scoop for under R30 is near to impossible. So I’d rather go get my hands on some Skinny Scoop for guilt-free indulgence.

Will devouring tons of Skinny Scoop make you skinny? Probably not. But with no added sugar and a protein base, it sure is a better option than most desserts you could have. Hey, if it’s Banting-approved, then it can’t be that bad for you (at least that’s my theory). Skinny Scoop uses natural ingredients in both its vanilla and chocolate ice creams (full cream milk, cream, whey protein isolate, xylitol, sodium alginate, vanilla powder or cacao powder). The chocolate is rich and decadent, with a slightly bitter chocolate-y taste. The vanilla is a little sweeter so those with a sweet tooth would probably enjoy this one most. Apparently the best is to mix the two, but I haven’t gotten around to trying that – yet!
